Vermicelli kheer served with mixed fruits. Seviyan Kheer/Payasam as it is known in India, is a special dessert that is made mostly on the occasion of festivals or celebrations. Ingredients list for Fruit Sevaiyaan

  • 1 cup Canned Mixed Fruits drained
  • 150 grams Vermicelli
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 2 tablespoons Raisins
  • 1 tablespoon Slivered almonds
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • a pinch Green cardamom powder
  • Few strands of saffron
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk

  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add raisins and sauté till golden. Add almonds and vermicelli and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add sugar, green cardamom powder and saffron and sauté till the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add milk and cook till the vermicelli becomes soft and the mixture thickens. Switch off the heat.
  4. Place ¾ of the canned fruits in a serving plate. Transfer the vermicelli mixture over them. Garnish with the remaining fruits and serve.
