Matar ka Halwa

Ingredients list for Matar ka Halwa

  • 1 cup Fresh Green Peas boiled and coarsely ground
  • 7-8 Tender Green Pea Shells
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 tablespoon Almonds finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Cashewnuts finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Pistachios finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup khoya / mawa grated

  1. Cook sugar and 1 cup water in a non-stick pan to make sugar syrup.
  2. Remove strings of the pea shells, roughly chop and add to the sugar syrup.
  3. Heat ghee in another non-stick pan. Add almonds, cashewnuts and pistachios and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add gram flour and sauté for 1-1½ minutes. Add green peas and sauté on low heat for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Add green cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. Add khoya and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add sugar syrup along with the shells and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes and switch off the heat.
  7. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
