Ingredients list for Rayalseema Pesarettu

  • 1 cup Split green gram with skin (chilkewali moong dal) soaked
  • 1 cup Rice parboiled, soaked
  • 2-3 Dried red chillies
  • 2-3 Green chillies roughly chopped
  • 2 medium Onions roughly chopped
  • 1 inch pie Ginger roughly chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 8-10 Curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons White sesame seeds roasted
  • 2-3 tablespoons Peanuts
  • 8-10 Black peppercorns
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Cumin seeds
  • to fry Oil

Method

  1. Drain and coarsely grind moong daal and parboiled rice with dried red chillies, green chillies, onions, ginger and salt.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a bowl. Add curry leaves, coriander leaves and white sesame seeds and mix.
  3. Coarsely grind peanuts, black peppercorns and cumin seeds and add to the bowl and mix well.
  4. Add a little water to get the required consistency and mix.
  5. Heat a non stick tawa and drizzle a little oil on it.
  6. Put a ladle full of batter on it and spread into a thin pancake.
  7. Drizzle a little all around and cook, turning sides, till both sides become golden brown and crisp. Serve hot.
