Split Bengal gram (chana dal)
Red chilli powder
Dry mango powder (amchur)
Garam masala powder
Fresh coriander leaves a sprig
Drain chana dal and cook it in a deep non stick pan with 3 cups water, salt and turmeric powder till soft.
Heat oil in another non stick pan.
Add ½ tsp red chilli powder and amchur to the dal and mix.
Add cumin seeds and onions to the oil in the pan and sauté till fragrant and golden.
Add ¼ tsp garam masala powder to the dal and mix.
Roughly chop green chillies and add to the onions along with curry leaves, remaining red chilli powder and garam masala powder and mix. Add this mixture to the dal and mix.
Garnish with fresh coriander sprig and serve hot with pakwan.
