Top 5 cookie recipes to try out this Cookie Day

There was no particular time or year, which saw the ‘cookie’ coming into existence.  Around the 7th century AD, this small flat cake was originally used by bakers to test an oven by baking small amounts of batter before they popped in the entire cake, to make sure the temperature was right. It was treated as a measurement tool. Unlike now, this tiny piece of heaven is a part of many holiday traditions, and the traditions are always long awaited.

Not to forget, the tradition of leaving out milk and cookies for Santa on Christmas – do you know about this custom? No, right? Well, here’s the story!

During the time of the Great Depression ( the period from 1929-1939 was a severe worldwide economic depression), parents would ask their kids to leave snacks for the old man who delivers them gifts, as an act of kindness and the joy of giving. Since then, it became a beautiful tradition.

Cookies, in later years became a part of many dishes, infused with ice cream, brownies and a lot more. But the chocolate chip cookie is a classic, and it comes with an interesting story too.

The invention of this popular cookie was slightly accidental. It originated in the 1930’s by a lady named Ruth Wakefield. She added chunks of chocolate to the batter hoping they would melt while baking, but they didn’t. The chunks only turned a little soft and resulted in chocolate chip cookies. Today, these cookies are the most basic version of cookies and easily available. And we all eat it all the time.

But this Cookie day we decided to do something different. We have listed down some exciting, unique cookie recipes that you can try this Christmas and New Year.
