By Sanjeev Kapoor 22 Feb 2017 in Recipes Course New Update Advertisment Main Ingredients Dried figs, Refined flour (maida) Cuisine Fusion Course Breads Prep Time 1.30-2 hour Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Fig Bread 1 cup Dried figs soaked and pureed 4 cups + for dusting Refined flour (maida) 1 tablespoon Fresh yeast 1 teaspoon Castor sugar (caster sugar) A pinch + ½ teaspoon Salt 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds 1 tablespoon Milk powder for greasing Butter ¼ cup + for brushing and Method Take yeast in a small bowl. Add a pinch of castor sugar ad 2-3 tablespoons water, mix well and set aside to activate. Put flour in an electric dough maker. Add salt, 1 teaspoon castor sugar, cumin seeds, milk powder, activated yeast, butter and pureed figs and process. Add some water and process until a soft dough is formed. Transfer into a bowl, cover with cling film and set aside to prove for 20 minutes. Grease a loaf tin with some butter and dust with some flour. Dust the worktop with some flour, transfer the dough and knock back to release excess air. Shape it into a thick log and put into the greased tin, cover with cling film and set aside to prove for 15-20 minutes. Preheat oven to 180° C. Brush the surface with some butter, place the tin in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould.
