By Sanjeev Kapoor 11 Jun 2020 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Rohu fish heads, Mustard oil Cuisine Orissa Course Main Course Seafood Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 26-30 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Non Veg Ingredients list for Fish Head Curry - SK Khazana 4 Rohu fish heads 4 tablespoons Mustard oil 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder 1-2 Green chillies slit 2 Bay leaves 1 medium Onion finely chopped 1 tablespoon Cumin paste 1 tablespoon Ginger paste 1/2 tablespoon Garlic paste 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder 1/2 cup Ambe mohor rice soaked for 10-15 minutes 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder Method Heat 3 tbsps oil in non-stick kadai till it starts smoking. Meanwhile, take fish heads in a bowl and add salt and ½ tsp turmeric powder, mix well. Add the fish heads to the hot oil and shallow-fry, turning sides, till golden brown on both sides.. Drain on absorbent paper. Carefully transfer the oil remaining in the kadai into a pressure cooker and add remaining oil and heat till it begins to smoke. Add green chillies, bay leaves and onion, mix and sauté till onion turns light golden brown. Add cumin paste, mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add ginger paste and garlic paste and mix well. Add remaining turmeric powder and red chilli powder and mix well. Reduce the heat and add drained rice and mix well. Add fish heads and mix well. Add 1½ cups water and garam masala powder. Mix and cover the pressure cooker and cook for 5-10 minutes or till 2 whistles are released. Allow the pressure to be released completely.
