Ingredients list for Fried Calamari

  • 4-5 Medium calamari (squids) cleaned and cut into ½ cm rings
  • to deep fry Oil
  • 1 cup Refined flour
  • 1/2 cup Cornflakes powdered
  • 2-3 Fresh thyme sprigs chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • to taste Black peppercorns crushed
  • to taste Salt
  • to serve Tartar sauce

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan.
  2. Take refined flour in a large bowl, add powdered cornflakes, thyme, paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper powder and salt and mix well.
  3. Add the calamari and mix till they are well coated. Pass it through a sieve to dust off excess flour.
  4. Slide the calamari into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Arrange them on a serving plate and serve hot with tartar sauce.
