Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Pateta Na Sada Pattice Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled and mashed 5 medium

  • Green Peas boiled and mashed 3 medium

  • Green peas boiled and mashed 1 cup

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds roasted and ground 1 teaspoon

  • Pickled green pepper coarsely ground 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoons

  • Sugar 1/2 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Eggs 4-6

  • Bread crumbs 2 cups

  • Oil to shallow fry

Method

Step 1

Mix well all the ingredients except eggs, bread crumbs and oil. Dampen palms and divide the mixture into twenty equal portions and flatten each to a half centimeter thick roundel.

Step 2

Dust the pattice in breadcrumbs. Whisk the eggs and season. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 3

Dip the dusted pattice in the whisked eggs and deep fry till crisp. Remove, drain onto an absorbent paper and serve hot.
