Ingredients list for Aloo Prawn Masala

  • 3 Small potatoes cut into 1 cm cubes
  • 16-20 Medium prawns shelled and deveined
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic chopped
  • 2 Medium onions chopped
  • 1 Medium tomato chopped
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 1/2 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoons Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 5-6 Kokum petals
  • to garnish Fresh coriander leaves chopped

Method

  1. Take prawns in a bowl, add salt and ¼ tsp turmeric powder, mix well and set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Add onions, mix and saute till golden brown in colour.
  3. Add potatoes, mix and sauté for a minute. Add tomatoes, green chillies and salt, mix and cook till soft.
  4. Add the red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, remaining turmeric powder and kokum and mix well. Add ½ cup of water, mix well and cook till the potatoes are almost done.
  5. Add marinated prawns, mix and cook till prawns are done. Add some coriander leaves and mix well.
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
