You should always stack your fridge with at least a dozen of them. Why? Handiest food to have around! Kids are hungry? Make some egg sandwiches. Guests come in, make an egg curry or egg biryani. You are hungry? Poach an egg and have it topped with stir fried veggies – perfect protein source for the body! Check the freshness – keep a raw egg in a bowl of water. Fresh eggs will stay at the bottom while stale eggs stand on end or float.

Cook time : 16-20 minutes

Ingredients for French Toast Sandwich Recipe

  • Eggs 2

  • White bread slices 8

  • Chicken breasts boiled and shredded 2

  • Mozzarella cheese grated 1/4 cup

  • Processed cheese grated 1/4 cup

  • Red chilli flakes 1 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Salt to taste

  • Spring onion greens chopped 1/4 cup

  • Mayonnaise 2 tablespoons

  • Butter as required

  • Tomato ketchup to serve

  • Potato chips to serve


Step 1

Take chicken in a bowl, add mozzarella cheese, processed cheese, red chilli flakes, crushed black peppercorns, salt, spring onion greens and mayonnaise and mix well.

Step 2

Break the eggs into another bowl, add salt and crushed black peppercorns and whisk well.

Step 3

Spread a generous portion of chicken mixture on 4 slices of bread, top each with another slice of bread and press gently.

Step 4

Heat a little butter on a non-stick tawa and let it melt. Dip each sandwich in the eggs till coated on both sides and place on the tawa and cook, turning sides, till evenly golden on both sides. Take them off the tawa and place them on the worktop.

Step 5

Cut each sandwich diagonally and arrange them on serving plates and serve hot with tomato ketchup and potato chips.
