Ingredients list for GSB Prawn Curry with Drumsticks

  • 1 cup Prawns (medium) shelled and deveined
  • 2 Drumsticks cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup Scraped coconut
  • 4-5 Dried red chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Tamarind pulp
  • 4-5 Black peppercorns
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Raw rice
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut oil

Method

  1. Take prawns in a bowl. Add salt and turmeric powder and keep aside to marinate for ten to fifteen minutes minutes.
  2. Grind coconut, chilies, tamarind paste, peppercorns, raw rice, half the chopped onions and coriander seeds and grind to a smooth paste.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon coconut oil in a pan and add the remaining onion. Sauté till it turns dark brown in color.
  4. Add prawns and drumsticks, 1 cup water and cover and cook for five to seven minutes.
  5. Add ground masala, cook for three to four minutes. Drizzle the remaining coconut oil and cook for a minute.
  6. Serve hot.
