Ingredients list for Green Gram Upma

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1 teaspoon Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal)
  • 3 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 cup Whole green grams (sabut moong)
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 inch Ginger chopped
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 10-12 Curry leaves
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Grind the rice and moong dal to a coarse powder.
  2. Heat two tablespoons oil in a deep non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and cumin seeds and saute for a minute.
  3. Add ginger, green chillies and curry leaves and saute for a minute.Add four cups water and bring it to boil. Add the rice and dal powder and keep stirring continuously.
  4. Cover and cook for ten to fifteen minutes. Add the remaining oil, cover and cook more for five minutes. Serve hot.
