Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots stretching to antiquity.  Italian cuisine is simple and a number of dishes having only four to eight ingredients.  They rely mostly on the quality of ingredients rather than elaborate preparation.

Ingredients for Macaroni Cheese Pie Recipe

  • Macaroni

  • Processed Cheese 1

  • For filling

  • Macaroni blanched 1 1/2 cup

  • Processed cheese grated 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180ºC/350ºF/Gas Mark 5. Roll out the pastry dough into one-centimeter thick disk of ten inches diameter. Place rolled dough sheet on the greased pie dish (covering base and sides), trim off excess and press lightly.

Step 2

Prick all over with a fork and keep the pie dish in the refrigerator for ten minutes. Take the pie dish out of the refrigerator and blind bake in the preheated oven for ten minutes. Heat olive oil in a pan, add garlic and sauté for a minute.

Step 3

Add blanched macaroni and toss. Add salt, crushed black peppercorns and one teaspoon mixed dried herbs and toss well. Set aside to cool.

Step 4

Layer the base of the pie dish with the prepared macaroni and pour the white sauce on top. Layer grated cheese and sprinkle the remaining mixed dried herbs.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for thirty minutes or till the top turns reddish brown. Remove from oven, cut into wedges and serve hot.
