History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Oats Mini Rotis Recipe

  • Oats coarsely ground ¾ cup

  • Whole wheat flour (atta) 3-4 tablespoons+ for dusting

  • Salt to taste

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Ghee for basting

Method

Step 1

Combine oats, whole wheat flour, salt, chaat masala, turmeric powder and chilli powder in a bowl and mix. Add onion, coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 2

Add some warm water and knead into semi soft dough. Cover with cling film and set aside for 15-20 minutes.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick tawa.

Step 4

Divide the dough into large equal portions.

Step 5

Dust worktop with some flour and roll out each portion into a thick sheet. Cut into roundels using a small cookie cutter.

Step 6

Roast each mini roti on the hot tawa, on low heat, turning sides and basting with ghee, till golden and crisp on both sides.

Step 7

Serve hot.
