Each Chinese dish reflects a balance of taste, texture, aroma and colour. Be it sweet, sour, pungent, hot, salty or spicy – all the six basic flavours are incorporated deftly in all Chinese dishes.

Ingredients for Stir Fried Broccoli And Tofu With Cracked Pepper Recipe

  • Broccoli 1 small florets

  • Tofu 1/2 inch pieces 200 grams

  • Black peppercorns crushed 8-10

  • Spring onions with greens 2-3

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 3 tablespoons

  • Ginger chopped 1 inch piece

  • Garlic chopped 3-4 cloves

  • Celery chopped 1 stalks

  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 1 tablespoon

  • MSG a pinch

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Trim and chop spring onions along with the greens. Keep aside the greens for garnish. Heat sufficient water in a pan.

Step 2

Add salt and blanch broccoli florets in it. Drain. Heat oil in a wok. Add chopped ginger, garlic, celery and sauté. Add sliced spring onions and stir. Stir in soy sauce, tofu, sugar and salt.

Step 3

Mix well. Add blanched broccoli and mix. Add a pinch of MSG, lemon juice, crushed peppercorns and mix well. Garnish with spring onion greens, stir and serve hot.
