Ingredients for Amla Mojito Recipe

  • Indian gooseberries (amla) 5

  • Sugar 1/2 cup

  • Ice cubes as required

  • Lemon , cut into wedges 8

  • Fresh mint leaves 20-25

  • White rum 12 tablespoon

  • Drinking soda for basting

  • Fresh mint sprigs to garnish

Method

Step 1

Cut 3 amlas into wedges and finely chop the remaining 2.

Step 2

To make the amla juice, put the amla wedges in a blender jar, add ⅓ cup water and blend to a smooth mixture. Strain this through a muslin cloth into a bowl and refrigerate till well chilled.

Step 3

To make the sugar syrup, heat a non-stick pan, add sugar, 1 cup water and the chopped amlas and mix well. Cook till sugar melts and amlas become soft.

Step 4

Take the pan off the heat, cool down to room temperature and refrigerate the sugar syrup till chilled.

Step 5

To make one portion, put 2 lemon wedges in a serving glass, and add 5-6 mint leaves and muddle well.

Step 6

Fill the glass with ice cubes, pour 2 tbsps amla juice, 3 tbsps sugar syrup and 3 tbsps white rum.

Step 7

Top it up with drinking soda, garnish with mint sprig and serve immediately.
