Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Apple Pickle Recipe

  • Apples cut into 1 inch cubes 250 grams

  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoons

  • Mustard powder 2 teaspoons

  • Aniseed (saunf) powder 2 tablespoons

  • Red chilli powder 2 tablespoons

  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fenugreek powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Onion seeds (kalonji) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Oil 5 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

In a bowl Mix together apple and lemon juice. Now dry the apples for 2-3 days.

Step 2

Once the apples are dried, place them in a jar, add mustard powder, aniseed powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, fenugreek powder, coriander powder, salt, asafoetida and oil. Mix them well.

Step 3

Set aside for few hours and use.
