Till a few years ago, cauliflower used to be a vegetable that is only available during winter but of late cauliflower is available year around especially in big cities. Referred to as the aristocrat of the cabbage family, the flowers are also eaten raw at times. While buying, look for fresh cauliflowers with compact white heads and green fresh looking leaves. Avoid and reject any loose or spread out heads – they are a sure sign of over maturity.

Ingredients for Cauliflower Popcorn - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Cauliflower medium, separated into small florets 1

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Onion powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic granules 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Refined flour slurry as required

  • Panko breadcrumbs as required

  • Oil for deep frying

  • Ketchup mayo for drizzling

  • Fresh parsley sprigs for garnish


Step 1

Take cauliflower in a large bowl, add red chilli powder, onion powder, garlic granules, salt and ginger-garlic paste and mix well.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 3

Take panko breadcrumbs in a bowl and refined flour slurry in another bowl. Dip each cauliflower floret in the slurry and roll in panko and gently press into a round shape.

Step 4

Slide them into hot oil and deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Transfer them into a serving bowl, drizzle ketchup mayo on top, garnish with parsley sprigs and serve hot.
