Ingredients list for Chana Dal - SK Khazana
- 2 cups Spllit Bengal gram (chana dal) soaked for 1 hour
 - 3-4 Medium tomatoes diced
 - 6-7 Garlic cloves
 - 2 inches Ginger roughly chopped
 - 2 Green chillies
 - to taste Salt
 - 2 tablespoons Oil
 - 2 Medium onions finely chopped
 - 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
 - 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
 - 1/4 teaspoon Red chilli powder
 - 1 tablespo to garnish Fresh coriander leaves chopped
 
Method
- Put tomatoes in a blender jar. Roughly chop garlic and add to the blender jar along with ginger. Roughly chop green chillies and add to the blender jar along with salt and blend to a coarse paste.
 - Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add onions and sauté till golden brown. Add chana dal and mix well. Add salt and mix. Add turmeric powder, mix well and saute for 1 minute.
 - Add the tomato paste. Rinse the blender jar with a little water and add to the cooker.
 - Add coriander powder and red chilli powder and mix well. Add 2 cups water and mix.
 - Place the lid on the cooker and cook under pressure till 3-4 whistles are released. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Open the lid when the pressure is completely reduced.
 - Add coriander leaves and mix well.
 - Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
