Ingredients

  • ½ cup grated cheese
  • ½ cup boiled unpolished whole green gram (sabut moong)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1½ cups refined flour (maida)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder

Method 

  1. Break eggs into a bowl and whisk.  Sift maida, salt, baking powder and baking soda into the bowl. Add sugar and mix everything well.
  2. Add oil and mix.  Add buttermilk and whisk till you get a smooth batter with no lumps.
  3. Add moong, cheese and red chilli powder and mix well.
  4. Heat a waffle iron and brush with a little oil. Pour a little batter into, close the lid and let it cook for 1 minute.
  5. Baste with a little oil and let it cook for another 30 seconds.
  6. Serve hot with a sauce of your choice.
