Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cheesy Hara Bhara Kabab Recipe

  • Mozzarella cheese , cut into small cubes 100 grams

  • Green peas , boiled and crushed 3/4 cup

  • Spinach leaves (palak) , blanched and finely chopped 1 small bunch

  • Fresh coriander leaves , chopped 3 tablespoons

  • Potatoes , boiled, peeled and grated 2 medium

  • Green chillies , finely chopped 1-2

  • Ginger , finely chopped 1 inch piece

  • Salt to taste

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 2-3 tablespoons

  • Oil for shallow frying

  • Onion rings for garnish

  • Lemon wedges for garnish

  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

  • Tomato ketchup to serve


Step 1

Take grated potatoes in a bowl, add green peas, spinach, coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger, salt, chaat masala and cornflour and mix well.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into equal portions. Flatten each portion onyour palm, place one mozzarella cheese cube in the center, seal and shape into kabab.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick pan, place the kababs in it and shallow-fry, turning sides, till evenly golden brown on both sides. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 4

Arrange them on a serving platter, garnish with onion rings, lemon wedges and mint sprig and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
