Ingredients list for Chilli Basil Fish

  • 2 Boneless basa fish fillets cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh red chillies
  • 20-25 Fresh basil leaves
  • 5 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 Medium onion
  • 3/4 Medium red capsicum
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Cornflour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried red chillies crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black peppercorns crushed
  • 2 teaspoons Oyster sauce

Method

  1. Heat 3 tbsps oil in a non-stick pan. Cut onions into cubes, separate layers and add to the pan.
  2. Cut red capsicum into ½ inch pieces and add to the pan and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Place fish in a bowl, add salt, cornflour, crushed dried red chillies, ginger-garlic paste and mix well.
  4. Transfer onion-red capsicum into a bowl.
  5. Heat 2 tbsps oil in the same pan. Crush fresh red chillies.
  6. Put fish pieces, one by one, into the pan. Sprinkle crushed black peppercorns over them and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Add fresh red chillies minus the seeds. Add oyster sauce and basil leaves. Add onion-red capsicum mixture and mix well.
  8. Sprinkle a little salt and mix and cook for 1 minute.
  9. Transfer into a serving plate and serve hot.
