Ingredients list for Chocolate and Walnut Cake

  • ? cup Cocoa powder
  • ? cup Walnuts chopped
  • for dusting Refined flour (maida) 1½ cups + 1 tablespoon
  • 1½ teaspoons Baking powder
  • for greasing Butter 1½ cups +
  • 1½ cups Castor sugar (caster sugar)
  • 3 Eggs
  • a few drops Vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • ? cup Chocolate chips

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease an eight-inch round cake tin with the butter.
  2. Sift the refined flour and baking powder together. Set aside.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar together till light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one by one, beating well till the mixture becomes light. Add the vanilla essence and mix well.
  4. Fold in the refined flour, adding it in batches. Add the milk and mix well.
  5. Mix the cocoa powder and oil together to make a smooth paste.
  6. Dust the chocolate chips and the walnuts with one tablespoon of flour.
  7. Add the cocoa powder paste, chocolate chips-walnuts to the batter and fold.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for fifty to fifty-five minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.
  10. Cut into slices and serve.
