Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn kernels, boiled
  • 1 cup grated processed cheese
  • 1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tablespoon red chilli paste 
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Oil for deep-frying and greasing 
  • Yellow capsicum strips for garnishing 
  • Green capsicum strips for garnishing 
  • Fresh coriander sprigs for garnishing 
  • Green chutney for serving

Method

  1. Crush corn kernels slightly and put into a bowl. Add cheese, carom seeds, ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder and baking soda and mix well. 
  2. Add onion, gram flour and red chilli paste and mix well. Add salt and coriander leaves and mix well. 
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. 
  4. Grease your palms with some Fortune Rice Bran Oil, divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into small balls. 
  5. Deep-fry the balls in hot oil till half done. Remove from oil and fry once again on high heat till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Garnish with yellow and green capsicum strips, coriander sprigs and serve hot with green chutney.
