Ingredients list for Dal Khichdi

  • 1/2 cup Split green gram with skin (chilkewali moong dal) soaked
  • 1/2 cup kolam rice soaked

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.
  2. Add cloves, cinnamon, asafoetida, ginger, chilkewali moong dal, dhuli moong dal, and rice and mix well.
  3. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add French beans, cubed carrot, green peas, salt, turmeric powder, grated carrot and 5 cups water and mix.
  5. Break green chilli and add. Close the pressure cooker with the lid and cook under pressure till 2-3 whistles are given.
  6. Open the cooker when the pressure reduces completely and serve piping hot.
