Ingredient

  • 2 cups leftover yellow dal tadka
  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 tablespoon oil 
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed black pepper
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 fresh red chilli flower
  • 1 fresh mint sprig

Method

  1. Heat oil a non-stick wok, add cumin seeds and saute till the colour changes.
  2. Add garlic and sauté till it turns light brown in colour. Add green chilli and sauté for 15 secs.
  3. Add oats, 1 cup water and mix well. Add turmeric powder, crushed black pepper, lemon juice and salt and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes or till oats are fully cooked.
  4. Add leftover yellow dal tadka, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add coriander leaves and mix well. 
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot garnished with red chilli flower and mint sprig.
