Ingredients for Eggless Besan Chocolate Cake Recipe

  • Gram flour ( besan) 1 cup

  • Cocoa powder 3/4 cup

  • Butter 1 1/4 cups for greasing

  • Whole wheat flour , 2 tbsps + 1/4 cup + for dusting

  • Milk 1 1/4 cups

  • Apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon

  • Walnuts , chopped 2 tbsps + teaspoons

  • Condensed milk 1 1/4 cups

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Salt a pinch

  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon

  • Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon

  • Readymade chocolate ganache for drizzling

  • Black coffee to serve

Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven at 180° C. Grease four small 4.1 inches x 1.5 inches loaf tins with butter and dust with whole wheat flour.

Step 2

Mix milk and apple cider vinegar in a bowl.

Step 3

Take 2 tbsps chopped walnuts in a small bowl and add 2 tbsps whole wheat flour and mix.

Step 4

Take 1¼ cups butter in a large bowl, add condensed milk and vanilla essence and beat with an electric hand beater till the mixture turns light and fluffy.

Step 5

Sift remaining whole wheat flour with gram flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder directly into the butter mixture and fold in gently.

Step 6

Add the milk-apple cider mixture and walnuts-whole wheat flour mixture and gently fold in to form a lump free batter.

Step 7

Half fill the greased loaf tins with this batter, tap to remove any air bubbles and sprinkle 1 tsp chopped walnuts on top of each.

Step 8

Place the loaf tins in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool slightly.

Step 10

Demould, slice and arrange them on a serving platter. Drizzle chocolate ganache on top and serve with black coffee.
