Ingredients for FIG AND WALNUT SLICE Recipe

  • Dried figs chopped ½ cup

  • California walnuts ½ cup

  • Refined flour (maida) rotis 2 cups + for coating

  • Honey 2 tbsps

  • Cinnamon powder ½ tsp

  • Butter 1 cup

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 3 tbsps

  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp

Method

Step 1

Line a barfi tray with a parchment paper. Blend dried figs, California walnuts, honey and cinnamon powder in a food processor to make a thick and smooth paste. Transfer in a bowl.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 170° C.

Step 3

Mix together butter and castor sugar in another bowl. Add vanilla essence and mix well. Cream the mixture using an electric beater till light.

Step 4

Add 2 cups flour and mix till well combined into a dough. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and spread one portion on the lined tray.

Step 5

Place a thin layer of prepared paste on top of the tray, cover with remaining dough portion and level it out.

Step 6

Coat fork with some flour and press it lightly over the prepared tray to create a pattern.

Step 7

Put the tray into the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould. Slice, cut into 1 inch pieces and serve.
