Fried Fish

Fish darnes marinated in green chutney, rolled in semolina and shallow fried. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients list for Fried Fish

  • 1 medium King fish (surmai) cleaned and cut into darnes
  • 1/2 cup Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 5-6 Garlic cloves
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Scraped coconut
  • 2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Tamarind pulp
  • 1 tablespoon Cornflour/ corn starch
  • 1/2 cup Semolina (rawa/suji)
  • for shallow frying Oil

Method

  1. Put coriander leaves, garlic, green chillies, coconut and little water in a grinder jar and grind to a smooth paste.
  2. Put the fish darnes in a bowl. Add ground paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and tamarind pulp and mix well. Add cornflour and mix again.
  3. Spread semolina on a plate. Coat the fish darnes with it from both sides.
  4. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Place the fish darnes and cook till golden from both sides. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Arrange the fish on a serving plate and serve hot.
