Ingredients list for Ganthia - SK Khazana

  • 1 1/.2 cups Gram flour
  • 2 1/2 tabl to deep fry Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • to serve Hot tea

Method

  1. Heat 2½ tbsps oil in a non-stick pan on low heat.
  2. Take gram flour in a bowl and add the hot oil, turmeric powder, carom seeds, salt and red chilli powder. Add little water and mix well. Add 1 tsp oil and combine well to make a semi soft dough.
  3. Grease oil in a chakli press fitted with sev attachment. Grease palms with oil. Shape mixture into thick long cylinder and place inside the chakli press.
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, press out the mixture directly into hot oil and deep-fry till golden. Drain on absorbent paper. Set aside to cool down.
  5. Break the ganthia into pieces and serve with cups of hot tea.
