You can’t eat breakfast at night or dinner in the afternoon – but snacks? that you can eat anytime of the day! Along with tea, after school or at a birthday party – snacks are every foodie’s ultimate favourite. Healthy snacking is the best way to satisfy your munchies without the worry of to many added calories.

Ingredients for Healthy Fruit and Nut Toasted Sandwich - SK Khazan Recipe

  • Red apples peeled and cored 4 medium

  • Cashew nuts roasted 10-12

  • Roasted almonds 1/4 cup

  • Walnuts roasted 1/4 cup

  • Whole wheat bread slices 8

  • Butter +as required 2 teaspoons

  • Orange juice 1 cup

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) greated 1 cup

  • Maple syrup to serve


Step 1

Thickly slice apples and set aside

Step 2

Heat butter in a non-stick pan, place the apple slices and cook for 1-2 minutes on both sides. Add orange juice and cook for 2-3 minutes or till the moisture dries up.

Step 3

Put cashew nuts, almonds and walnuts in a mortar and pestle and pound to a coarse powder.

Step 4

Take cottage cheese in a bowl, add nuts mixture and mix well. Set aside.

Step 5

Apply butter on one side of each bread slice and spread the apple mixture evenly on four slices of bread. Spread a portion of the nut-cottage cheese mixture over the apple. Cover with remaining slices of bread.

Step 6

Heat a little butter on a grill pan and place the sandwiches and grill for 1-2 minutes, flip and apply a little butter. Grill further for 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

Transfer the sandwiches on a serving plate and serve warm with maple syrup.
