Ingredients

  • 1 cup red lentils (masoor dal)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
  • 1 small potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 medium carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 4 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 2 cups vegetable stock
  • Fresh chopped coriander leaves for garnishing 

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add garlic and sauté for half a minute. Add onions, celery and sauté further.
  2. Add potatoes, carrots and mix well. Add red lentils, salt, black pepper powder and tomato puree and mix well. Add vegetable stock and mix well. Cover andpressure cook under till pressure is released 4-5 times (4-5 whistles). 
  3. Open the lid of the cooker after the pressure reduces completely and blend well with a hand blender to make a smooth paste.
  4. Serve piping hot garnished with chopped coriander.
