Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients for Makai Aur Sabz Ka Shorba Recipe

  • Sweet Corn 1 cup

  • Vegetable stock 3 cups

  • Carrot 1/2 small

  • Broccoli 4-5 florets

  • Red capsicum 1/4

  • Yellow capsicum 1/4

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Cornmeal 3 teaspoons

  • French beans chopped 4-5

  • Salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

Method

Step 1

Finely chop the carrot, broccoli, red and yellow capsicum. Heat oil in a deep non stick pan.

Step 2

Add carrot, red and yellow capsicums and sauté. Add the cornmeal and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the vegetable stock, salt and crushed black peppercorns and mix well.

Step 4

When the vegetables are nearly done, add the French beans and broccoli and cook for a few minutes.

Step 5

When the shorba thickens a little, take it off the heat and serve hot.
