Paneer Corndog

Coat paneer sticks in a spiced cornmeal batter and deep-fry until golden and crispy. Serve hot as a savoury, crunchy snack or appetizer. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients 

  • 500 grams paneer (cottage cheese), cut into 4-inch thick strips
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 3 tablespoons refined flour (maida)
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika powder
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1½ cups buttermilk
  • Mustard sauce to serve
  • Tomato ketchup to serve

Method

  1. Put cornmeal in a jar, add refined flour, paprika, baking soda, baking powder and salt and mix well.
  2. Add buttermilk and mix well to form a thick batter.
  3. Insert a satay stick in the center of each cottage cheese strip.
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a wok. , Dip each cottage cheese strip in the batter and slide it into the hot oil. Deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Arrange them in a serving bowl and serve hot with mustard sauce and tomato ketchup.
