How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Prep Time : 0-5 minutes

Cook time : 26-30 minutes

Serve : 4

Ingredients for Papputu Recipe

  • Coarse rice flour 1 cup

  • Milk 1/2 cup

  • Coconut,scraped 1/2 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Mix half cup of rice powder with three fourth cup of water and one fourth cup of milk.

Step 2

Add one fourth cup of coconut, half the green cardamom powder, half teaspoon of sugar and salt. Mix well and pour the mixture into a greased thali.

Step 3

Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients and pour into another greased thali.

Step 4

Steam for twenty minutes. Once set, cool and cut into squares or triangles. Serve with a curry of your choice.
