This term Continental cuisine refers to the food eaten in the European countries. Under the mantle of Continental food come the British, American, Italian, New Zealand, Armenian, Hungarian, Russian and many other European cuisines.
Continental cuisines use less chilllies and very little spices. Instead fresh herbs and dairy products form an important part of continental dishes.  The cooking methods are mostly stewing, grilling and roasting which make the food low in calories as they use very less fat. Continental food use mostly items high in proteins like milk, cheese, eggs and meats.

Ingredients for Pound Cake - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Refined flour 1 1/4 cups for dusting

  • Butter 1 1/4 cups to grease

  • Castor sugar 1 1/4 cups

  • Eggs 5

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon

  • Milk 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a loaf tin with some butter and dust with some flour.

Step 2

Take butter in a mixing bowl and whisk with an electric beater till light. Add castor sugar gradually and whisk till fluffy.

Step 3

Break in eggs, one at a time, and whisk. Add vanilla essence and whisk again.

Step 4

Sieve together flour and baking powder into the bowl and fold in with a spatula. Add milk and mix well.

Step 5

Pour the batter into the greased tin and tap gently on the worktop. Keep the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould.

Step 6

Slice and serve.
