Ingredients for Raw Mango Chilli Chicken Recipe

  • Boneless chicken leg cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces 400 grams

  • Medium raw mangoes peeled and roughly chopped 2

  • Green chillies 4-5

  • Garlic peeled 4-5 cloves

  • Ginger chopped 1/2 inch

  • Medium onions chopped 2

  • Fresh coriander leaves 1/2 medium bunch

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Green chillies slit 3-4

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 3/4 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespo to garnish


Step 1

Put raw mangoes into a blender jar, add green chillies, garlic, ginger, ¼ of the chopped onions and a little water and blend. Add coriander leaves and blend to a smooth paste.

Step 2

Take chicken pieces in a large bowl, add salt and the raw mango-coriander leaves paste, mix well and set aside to marinate for 25-30 minutes.

Step 3

Heat oil in a non-stick deep pan, add cumin seeds and saute till they change colour. Add green chillies, mix and sauté for ½ minute.

Step 4

Add remaining onions, mix and sauté till translucent. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and cumin powder, mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add a little salt and mix well. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 6

Add the marinated chicken and mix well. Rinse the bowl with ¾ cup water and add to the mixture. Add a little salt, mix well, cover and cook till the chicken is done.

Step 7

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
