Ingredients for Sprout Khichdi Recipe

  • Moong sprouts 1/2 cup

  • Matki sprouts 1/4 cup

  • Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal) soaked and drained 1/4 cup

  • Basmati rice soaked 3/4 cup

  • Cloves 2-3

  • Cinnamon 1 inch stick

  • Black peppercorns 5-6

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Onion chopped 2 medium

  • Green chillies slit 2

  • Ginger paste 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorns and saute for 1 minute. Add onions and saute till lightly coloured.

Step 2

Add moong and matki sprouts, moong dal. Add ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder and salt. Add rice, 4 cups water and mix. Close the cooker and cook till 2-3 whistles are given out. Let thekhichdi remain in the cooker for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3

Serve hot.
