Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Tamarind Cooler Recipe

  • Tamarind paste 1 tablespoon

  • Sugar 4 tablespoons

  • Ginger grated 2 tablespoons

  • Lemon 1

  • Roasted cumin seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Ice cubes as required

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Drinking soda For topping

Method

Step 1

Heat 3 cups water in a non-stick pan. Add sugar, tamarind paste and ginger, stir and boil for a minute. Remove from heat and cool down to room temperature.

Step 2

Slice lemon and remove seeds. Coarsely crush cumin seeds.

Step 3

Place lots of ice cubes into 4 individual tall glasses. Add 2-3 lemon slices and ¼ tablespoon lemon juice in each glass.

Step 4

Divide crushed cumin seeds and the tamarind mixture equally into each and top with drinking soda.

Step 5

Serve chilled.
