Ingredients list for Tea Cookies

  • 225 grams Refined flour (maida)
  • 75 grams Icing sugar
  • 150 grams Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 20-25 Candied cherries halved

Method

  1. Preheat oven at 220º C.
  2. Sift sugar into a bowl, add butter and cream them together with an electric beater till smooth.
  3. Break egg into the bowl and continue to beat with the beater.
  4. Sift flour into the same bowl and mix well.
  5. Divide dough into small equal portions and shape them into balls. Flatten the balls and place them on a baking tray keeping sufficient space between each. Place a candied cherry half on top of each cookie.
  6. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 7-8 minutes. Remove from oven and cool them on a wire rack.
  7. Serve or store in an airtight container.
