Thecha Prawns Spicy but flavourful, this prawn dish is an absolute winner. By Sanjeev Kapoor 14 Aug 2020 in Recipes Course New Update Thecha Prawns Main Ingredients Medium prawns, Salt Cuisine Maharashtrian Course Pickles, Jams and Chutneys Prep Time 21-25 minutes Cook time 26-30 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Non Veg Ingredients 25 medium prawns shelled, deveined, washed and patted dry Salt to taste 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 1/2 tablespoons oil Thecha 20-25 light green chillies 20-25 garlic cloves peeled 2 tablespoons oil 2 teaspoons cumin seeds 1/2 cup raw peanuts Salt to taste Method Remove the stems of the green chillies and chop them roughly. To make thecha, heat 2 tbsps oil in a kadai, add cumin seeds and saute till their colour changes. Add garlic, mix and sauté for 2 minutes. Add peanuts, mix and sauté for 3-4 minutes or till golden brown. Add green chillies, mix well and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add salt and mix well. Take it off the heat. Transfer the mixture into a mortar and pound with the pestle to a coarse paste. Take prawns in another bowl, add salt and turmeric powder, mix well and set aside for 10 minutes. Heat 1½ tbsps oil in the same kadai, add the thecha and sauté for 1 minute. Add prawns, mix well and saute till the prawns are cooked.
