Ingredients list for Twisted Cinnamon Donuts

  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
  • 3 cups Refined flour (maida)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • a pinch Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 4 teaspoons Fresh yeast
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • ¼ cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a non-stick pan. Remove from heat, add the milk, sugar, salt and egg and mix well.
  2. Add the yeast and set aside for ten to fifteen minutes.
  3. Take the flour in a bowl. Add the milk mixture and sufficient water and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  4. Transfer the dough on the worktop and knock back to release the excess air. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a pan.
  6. Divide the dough into eight equal portions, shape them into balls, roll out into thin cylinders and twist and press both ends to shape like a donut.
  7. Deep-fry the donuts in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  8. Take cinnamon powder in another bowl. Add the castor sugar and mix well.
  9. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top of the donuts. Serve immediately.
