By Sanjeev Kapoor 24 Nov 2021 in Recipes Course New Update White Dhokla Main Ingredients Rice, Split skinless black grams (dhuli urad dal) Cuisine Gujarati Course Snacks and Starters Prep Time 8-10 hour Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients ¼ cup rice, soaked for 10-15 minutes and drained ½ cup split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal), soaked and drained ½ cup yogurt 2 teaspoons ginger-green chilli paste A pinch fruit salt Salt to taste Oil for greasing Crushed black peppercorns to taste Method Grind together rice and split black gram alongwith ½ cup water into smooth and thick batter. Transfer in a bowl. Add yogurt to the batter and mix well. Cover and set aside to ferment for 7-8 hours. Heat some water in a steamer. Cover and let the water boil. Add ginger-green chilli paste, fruit salt and salt and mix well. Grease a steel plate with some oil and pour the batter filling ½ of it, spread evenly and tap. Sprinkle some crushed peppercorns on top, place the plate in hot steamer, cover and steam for 10 minutes. Remove from steamer.
