By Sanjeev Kapoor 06 Apr 2024 in Recipes Pickle Jams Chutneys New Update Ellu Podi Main ingredients Black sesame seeds (kala til), Spllit skinless black gram Cuisine South Indian Course Chutney Prep time 10-15 minutes Cook time 10-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Savoury Level of cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients · 1 cup black sesame seeds (kala til / ellu) · ¼ cup split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal) · ½ tsp oil · 8-10 dried red chillies · Sea salt to taste · A small piece of rock asafoetida (hing) Method 1. Dry roast black sesame seeds till they splutter in a non-stick pan. Transfer onto a large plate and allow to cool. 2. Dry roast split skinless black gram till it turns golden brown in the same pan. Transfer onto the same plate and allow to cool. 3. Heat oil in the same pan again. Add the dried red chillies and sauté for 1 minute. Switch the heat off. Add sea salt and rock asafoetida and transfer onto the same plate again and set aside to cool. 4. When completely cooled, put the roasted mixture into a grinder jar and grind to a coarse power. Transfer onto a plate and allow it to cool down to room temperature. 5.
