Herbed Garlic Rice

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked Basmati rice 
  • 2-3 fresh oregano sprigs
  • 1-2 fresh thyme sprigs
  • 1 medium bunch green garlic 
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ tablespoon butter
  • 1-2 fresh red chillies, diagonally chopped
  • ½ tablespoon finely chopped fresh celery
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • White pepper powder to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Method

  1. Finely chop green garlic cloves and also the stalks. Keep them separately on a plate.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a non-stick pan add the green garlic cloves and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add fresh red chillies and celery, mix well and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Pluck the oregano leaves and thyme leaves from the sprigs and add into the pan. Mix well and saute for 30 seconds.
  5. Add black sesame seeds and white sesame seeds and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add cooked rice and toss well.
  6. Add green garlic stalks, salt, white pepper powder and sugar and mix till well combined.
  7. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
