Potato Donuts

These are savoury donuts made with potatoes. They make excellent snack for the children when they come back from school hungry for something delicious to eat. It will take a little effort to make them but the end result will be well worth it.

Ingredients

 

·         3 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and grated

·         1 cup refined flour (maida)

·         1 tsp garlic powder

·         1½ tsps onion powder

·         Crushed black peppercorns to taste

·         Salt to taste

·         2 tsps oil + for deep frying

·         Chopped fresh chives for sprinkling

·         Black pepper powder for sprinkling

·         Red chilli flakes for sprinkling

 

Method

 

1.      Take potatoes in a bowl, add refined flour, garlic powder, onion powder, crushed black peppercorns and salt and mix to a dough.

2.      Drizzle 2 tsps oil and knead again.

3.      To make the donuts, divide the dough into small equal portion and shape them into balls. Flatten them lightly and make a hole in the centre.

4.      Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Slide in the donuts, a few at a time, and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

5.      Dip one side of each donut in cheese sauce and keep them on a wire rack. Sprinkle chives, black pepper powder and red chilli flakes over them.

6.      Arrange them on a serving platter and serve.
