Spiced Hibiscus Cranberry Drink

Homemade spiced hibiscus mixture and cranberry juice put together to make an amazing flavorful drink. It is fizzy, sweet and spicy at the same time, making it absolutely refreshing one. Ideal to have during hot summer days.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 fresh hibiscus flowers
  • ¾ cup cranberry juice
  • 2 inch cinnamon 
  • 1 star anise
  • ½ cup sugar 
  • Ice cubes as required
  • Lemon slices as required
  • Drinking soda as required
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Method

  1. Heat sugar, ¼ cup water and cranberry juice in a non-stick pan. Cook till the mixture thickens. Set aside to cool completely. 
  2. To make the spiced hibiscus mixture, heat 4 cups water in a deep pan. Add hibiscus flower, break the cinnamon stick and add into it. Add star anise and mix well. Cook till the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and continue to cook for 4-5 minutes. Strain the mixture into a jar and set aside to cool completely.
  3. Put some ice cubes in a serving glass. Pour a portion of cranberry sugar syrup, arrange a few lemon slices, pour a portion of hibiscus mixture and top it with drinking soda. Garnish with mint sprig and serve immediately.
