Tandoori Soya Chaap Sandwich

This ‘no meat’ meaty dish is made with tandoori soya chaaps. They are chopped, mixed with mayonnaise and some vegetables, stuffed between bread slices and grilled to perfection. Definitely a snack to remember!

Ingredients

  • 3-4 ready-made tandoori soya chaaps
  • 8 white bread slices
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste
  • ½ teaspoon chaat masala
  • ½ cup shredded purple cabbage
  • 1 small carrot, cut into thin strips
  • ½ cup shredded cabbage
  • Butter for applying
  • Green chutney for applying
  • Onion rings for topping
  • Sandwich masala for sprinkling
  • Potato chips to serve
  • Tomato ketchup to serve

Method

  1. Chop the tandoori soya chaaps into small pieces and transfer into a large bowl. Add mayonnaise, coriander leaves, salt, crushed black peppercorns, chaat masala, purple cabbage, carrot and cabbage and mix well.
  2. Apply some butter on all the bread slices and spread some green chutney on each slice. Place a portion of the soya chaap mixture on top of 4 slices of bread. Arrange some onion rings and sprinkle some sandwich masala. Cover with the remaining bread slices with the butter side facing down.
  3. Apply some butter on top of each sandwich. 
  4. Heat an electric sandwich griller. Place one sandwich at a time with the butter side facing down in it and apply some more butter on top of the sandwiches and grill till evenly golden on both sides.
  5. Diagonally halve the sandwiches and place them on serving platter. Serve hot with potato chips and tomato ketchup.
