Ingredients
- 1 cup whole black gram (sabut urad), soaked for 6-8 hours and drained
- 1 inch ginger, roughly chopped
- 3 green chillies, broken
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tablespoons white sesame seeds
- Oil for deep frying
- Green chutney for serving
Method
- Transfer whole black gram into a grinder jar, add ginger, green chillies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt and grind coarsely.
- Add 2-3 tablespoons water and continue to grind coarsely.
- Transfer this mixture into a bowl, add white sesame seeds and mix well.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Divide the mixture into equal portions, apply some oil on palms and flatten each portion.
- Slide into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Arrange on a serving platter and serve hot with green chutney.
